The Secretariat is the executive Organ of COMESA. It ensures that the regulations and directives adopted by the Council of Ministers are properly implemented, and provides the Council of Ministers with strategic recommendations.
It is comprised of the Executive Management- Office of the Secretary General, Assistant Secretaries General for Programs, Finance and Administration, and the Management Team.OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY GENERAL
The Secretary General (SG) is the Chief Executive Officer of the Common Market. The SG represents the Common Market in the exercise of its legal personality and acts as the secretary to the Authority and the Council. This office ensures that the objectives set out in this COMESA Treaty are attained

The office is in charge of five technical Divisions. These are Trade and Customs, Agriculture and Industry, Gender and Social Affairs, Infrastructure and Logistics and Information Technology.

Divisions and Units
The Secretariat is made of Divisions, Units and Projects who all work in collaboration as they implement the various programmes to realise the COMESA integration agenda. The Divisions, Units and Projects are split into three groups with some reporting to the Secretary General, others to the Assistant Secretary General Programmes and the Assistant Secretary General Administration and Finance respectively.
