Inaugural COMESA Week to take place in Madagascar

Antananarivo, Sunday, 23 June 2024 – The inaugural COMESA Week will be held in Antananarivo from 24 to 29 June 2024. This initiative is jointly organized by COMESA in collaboration with the Government of Madagascar, aiming to raise public awareness of the COMESA regional integration agenda as the organization begins activities to commemorate its 30th-anniversary this year.

Supported by the European Union under the Institutional Capacity Building Programme, COMESA Week will feature a mini expo attracting small entrepreneurs, a media sensitization forum on regional integration, multi-stakeholder dialogues focusing on women and youth, and engagement with students at the University of Antananarivo.

The highlight of the activities will be the 5th COMESA Federation of Women in Business (COMFWB) Trade Fair and Business Conference on 28 and 29 June 2024. This event will bring together national chapters of the COMFWB from COMESA Member States and women entrepreneurs from Madagascar and across the region. Various international and local corporations have joined forces to support these events.

A publicity campaign is underway across multimedia platforms in Madagascar to promote COMESA Week.

Madagascar’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Honourable Rafaravavitafika RASATA, and COMESA Assistant Secretary General for Administration and Finance, Dr. Dev Haman, will lead the launch ceremony.
