Heads of the three regional economic communities, COMESA, EAC and SADC have issued a joint statement of solidarity with their Member/Partner States in the face of the Coronavirus pandemic. In the statement issued during the 31st meeting of the Tripartite Task Force conducted through video conferencing, Tuesday, April 21, 2020, the three re-affirmed solidarity with all the Tripartite States as they individually and severally work towards combating the pandemic.
They urged the States to remain proactive and united in the fight against COVID-19, to minimize disruptions in livelihoods, businesses and transit trade.
“We encourage the Tripartite Member/Partner States to conform to uniform standards and regional guidelines to minimize disruptions in the supply chain for essential goods, including food supplies across the Tripartite region,” the statement said.
